Mobile Gaming Mania: Spending Habits of Turkish “Hyper-Casual” Users

Türkiye’s Hyper-Casual Gaming Market: Spending Habits in a Period of Transformation

Türkiye’s gaming market has reached a historic milestone in 2025, surpassing a volume of 1.01 billion dollars. However, the real intrigue behind this growth is much more fascinating: the golden age of hyper-casual games is fading, making way for more in-depth mechanic games.

The Changing Structure of the Market

It was assumed last year that the market was dominated by hyper-casual games with their consistently simple designs. However, looking at the data for 2025, the situation is clear: the increase in advertising costs and the inflation of user acquisition budgets have significantly squeezed the profitability of the hyper-casual model.

The emerging model, as seen in the success of companies like Dream Games, focuses on creating a more loyal user base with games that have mechanical depth. Meanwhile, indie developers have come to the forefront, with 90 games released by local developers in 2024, over 60 more games launched in the first half of 2025, and approximately 400 new games expected to be released in the 2025-2026 period.

Player Profile and Spending Dynamics

Within the active player base of nearly 50 million, a noteworthy detail is the fact that 46% of players are female. This demographic breakdown indicates that the simplicity and accessibility of hyper-casual games are embraced by female gamers.

In 2025, an intriguing development in gaming expenditures occurred: there was an 11% decrease compared to 2024. This was primarily due to the emergence of subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, providing players with access to dozens of games through a single subscription. This shift implies a reduction in direct spending on hyper-casual games but a change in the consumption method.

Strengthening Technological Foundation

With 77 million internet users in Türkiye and an internet usage rate of 90.9% in the 16-74 age group, the infrastructure for gaming is very robust. The increase in fiber access directly enhances the gaming experience, paving the way for games to be presented as a complete “experience package”.

Turkey’s Position in the Global Context

With an estimated market size ranging from 1.2 to 1.5 billion dollars, Türkiye has a strong export capacity in hyper-casual and casual game development. The country is not only a consumer market in global competition but also gaining importance as a development center.

Investment Climate

In 2025, the sector received a total investment of 150 million dollars from 16 companies. The standout investment was the 83 million dollars raised by Good Job Games, indicating that investors are shifting towards more established, proven studios. Despite proceeding cautiously, exit transactions are ongoing, and the entrepreneurship climate is evolving into a more intelligent structure.

In summary, the Türkiye gaming market in 2025 has transitioned from quick, hyper-casual games to player-centric, mechanically rich games; spending habits have shifted towards subscription models, and developers have turned towards indie and alternative models.
